UI-UX Designer

Barrow Wise Consulting is seeking a UI-UX Designer to support a NYC Department of Social Services initiative. The role centers on delivering user-centered design through mockups, wireframes, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration, with on-site work in New York City.

Responsibilities

• Ensure web and mobile applications adhere to the style guide to standardize design, presentation, and functionality, delivering a consistent and intuitive user experience.
• Collaborate with the project team and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into groomed user stories for development, including mockups and wireframes.
• Analyze web and mobile applications to develop user acceptance test scenarios that validate and improve performance based on UAT outcomes.
• Lead Sprint Planning in alignment with Agile methodology.
• Work with design teams and interdisciplinary groups to resolve questions and identify implementation solutions for designs and features.
• Demonstrate new features to ensure project teams and end users are proficient with systems, programs, and applications across departments.
• Develop formal and informal documentation, such as presentations, functional design documents, and nonfunctional requirement documents that illustrate system features for ITS and non-ITS audiences. Coordinate and report progress on project tasks to management, stakeholders, and relevant teams.
• Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
• On-site work in NYC.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, User Experience Design, or a related field.
• About four years of experience creating and refining interaction and interface designs, prototypes, wireframes, workflow diagrams, and mockups.
• Approximately four years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Angular, AngularJS, Axure, Bootstrap, CSS3, HTML, HTML5, Illustrator, JavaScript across browser platforms, MVC, .NET, Photoshop, Sketch, and Visio.
• Four years of experience in mobile and web design and development.
• Four years of experience creating style guides.
• Six years of experience translating business requirements into functional tasks for implementation.
• Two years of knowledge and experience with Jira and WordPress is a plus.

Compensation

Salary range is USD 70,000 to 80,000 per year.
